Weddings often have one overlooked moment - the gap between dinner ending and the DJ starting. If it’s not managed well, energy can dip and guests can drift.
The secret is simple: don’t wait for the DJ to build the atmosphere - build your wedding dance floor before they even start. With the right pre - DJ entertainment you can turn this post - dinner lull into one of the most exciting parts of the day.
Diving into my top 10 Pro Dancer performances, the goal is to spark movement, laughter and connection so guests are already warmed up and ready to dance the moment the music begins.
Why the Time Between Dinner and the DJ Matters
Once the meal ends, guests often shift into a more passive mode - chatting at tables, lingering over drinks, and waiting for the “real party” to begin.
This is where post-dinner wedding entertainment makes all the difference. Instead of letting the energy drop, you bridge the gap with something interactive, visual, and engaging that gently pulls guests back into the moment.
Done well, this means the dance floor isn’t something guests wait for - it’s something they’re already stepping into before the DJ even plays the first track.
My top 10 Professional Dancer recommendations before the DJ set:
1. Voguing - Bring the Ball to you!
Kicking off with the most ICONIC of all - You’re Welcome! The day I get married, I SH'WILL be making this happen. Granted I haven’t seen this being done before and yes Voguing isn't under the "wedding entertainer" search list, BUT there are more Voguing events and classes popping up than ever, so I’d start there - join a class, send an email, girl - beg! lol it’ll be worth it! I don’t even need to explain how amazing this could be, but I will for dramatic effect.
Bold, stylish and utterly unforgettable - Voguing performers bring serious main-character energy (so expect to be out-shone hunny). Expect high-fashion poses, dramatic choreo, confidence for days. It’s glamor 2.0, high-energy, visually iconic and the kind of surprise entertainment guests will never ever stop talking about long after your wedding.

2. Latin Dance Troupe (Salsa/Bachata)
Visually striking with their amazing costumes and insane hips that don't lie!!! Sorry, literally couldn’t help myself lol. A joy to watch. High-energy routines will deffo get the room pumped and excited.
3. Bollywood Dancers
Bright costumes, big expressions, and infectious music. People tend to loosen up fast because it’s more about fun than precision.
4. 1920s Gatsby / Swing Dancers
A Charleston or swing performance adds a classy vintage vibe. This works especially well if your wedding has a themed or elegant aesthetic.
5. Afrobeats Dance Crew
There isn’t a style of music that's more in right now, you can't go wrong, everybody loves a lil Afrobeats!
6. Flash Mob Performers
You can stage this so it looks spontaneous - dancers blend in with guests, then suddenly break into a routine. There’s nothing more that screams big surprise moment (except for your dress, obz xox).
7. LED / Glow Dancers
More of a visual spectacle at first - especially in dim lighting - then transitions into getting guests moving. Great if you want something a bit different and Instagram-worthy.
8. Cultural Folk Dancers
Depending on your background or interests (Greek, Irish, Punjabi Bhangra, etc.). Bhangra in particular is incredible for energy - very similar effect to the Brazilian dancers.
9. Silent Disco Dance Leaders
Give guests headphones and have a few pro dancers lead different “channels” or styles. It’s interactive and hilarious, especially when people switch channels and try out new shapes.
10. Line Dancing Leaders
Line dancing is one of the easiest ways to get mixed-age groups onto the dance floor fast. Guests follow simple routines together, making it fun, interactive, and completely pressure-free. Also Line Dancing is kinda a thing right now, so make sure you film it for a lil tik tok mo <3.
Pro Tip
When booking performers ask whether they’d be open to turning the performance into a mini interactive lesson afterward. Ikr - GENIUS!
Once guests have watched the pros do their thaang, the dancers can break a few moves down into super simple, easy-to-copy steps that even complete “non-dancers” can join in with. It instantly removes awkwardness, gets mixed-age groups involved and creates a natural transition onto the dance floor without forcing it.
Big Voguing, a quick salsa step, dancing in or very off line, the goal isn’t perfection - it’s getting everyone relaxed, laughing, and moving together. After a short lesson, the performers can invite everyone onto the floor and seamlessly hand the energy over to the DJ.
